Gripes and Gratitudes

I’m starting a new thing this week.  I’ve seen this on a few of the blogs I read and decided to adopt it myself.  I’ll try to do this weekly, hopefully every Friday.  It’s called Gripes and Gratitudes.  So, let’s start with the Gratitudes…because it’s always better to be thankful for what you have before you bitch about what you don’t, agreed?

*  My sweet baby granddaughter has learned our names.  She can say Nana and Pops very clearly now.  I’m trying not to be jealous that she says Pops a lot more and she goes running to him every time she sees us.

*  Sons of Anarchy! OMG!  I LOVE this show.

*  I’m going on a long weekend with the Love of my Life next weekend.  We are going to Santa Fe and I’m looking forward to it so much!

*  I had lunch with my daughters yesterday and it just reminded me how very lucky and so very thankful I am for my girls.  They are the most amazing women on the planet!

*  The weather lately has been amazing!  It is so beautiful this time of year.

Now let’s do the gripes…

*  I fell yesterday leaving work…right in front of the front door of the hospital!  I twisted my foot and it hurts like hell.  I’m working from home today to keep it elevated.  I’m going to have to swear off my heels walking in and out of work!  I’m sad about that.  I love my shoes!

*  My sister went through all of her husband’s life insurance in about a week.  She hasn’t paid her loan payment to me this month and now I’m going to have to call her and ask for it.  I HATE being a damn bill collector!

*  I have gained way too much weight recently.  I’m so depressed about it!  It seems no matter what I do, the weight just keeps climbing.  Dang, this getting old business is just so hard!

So, looks like I have more things to be thankful for.  Life is good!

Well, this was sure a dud week for my fashion choices.  I don’t like a single day’s outfit choice.  Bummer…remind me not to do that again!

WWW #38

Well, I was sick on Monday of this week so I don’t have a Monday outfit.  We’ll be starting with Tuesday.  I didn’t think you’d want to see me in my sweats laying on the couch all day!

Tuesday:

IMG_1369

This outfit took some bravery on my part to pull off.  I’ve always been such a “matchy-matchy” girl.  Things just have to match!  Well, I’m really trying to stretch my boundaries and go with some of the current fashion trends and in case you haven’t noticed they are definitely not in the “everything has to match” camp.  So, this was my first stretch!

Pants:  Loft – August 2012

Shirt:  New York and Company – 2011

Shoes:  Sperry – Dillards – very old

Jewelry:  This is some VERY old stuff I’ve had for a long time.  I think I got the necklace, bracelet, and earrings in 1986 or 1987.  Does that make it vintage yet????

Wednesday:

IMG_1373

This must be the week I decided to stretch my fashion wings so to speak!

Dress:  Target – very old, like 2008 I think????

Boots:  Brighton – Old, 2009 I think?

Jewelry:  Brighton, Avon, Tiffany’s

Thursday:

Lovin’ this outfit!

Shoes:  Boutique 9 – online from www.ruelala.com

Jewelry:  Not sure, I think Avon?

Friday:

IMG_1378

OK, before I go any further, I decided to take the pants out of the boots so this picture is not really how I looked all day, but oh well, you get the idea.

Pants:  Loft – August 2012

Boots:  JC Penney – Black Friday 2011

Sweater:  Ann Taylor Outlet (I think) – 2010

Shirt:  Ann Taylor Outlet – 2010

Belt – came with a skirt

Jewelry:  Brighton, Avon, Tiffany’s

My favorite this week by far is Thursday!  I love that outfit and I’ll have to wear it again some day!

WWW #37

Well, I did it again, I let myself get behind.  Sorry about that!  I’ll catch up today and even throw in another off topic post highlighting my Fall Décor in my house!

So, let’s go!

Monday:

IMG_1357

I actually kind of like this look if it weren’t for my really ugly fat WHITE legs.  I need some color on those babies…oh and a few less pounds on them wouldn’t hurt either!

Dress:  Calvin Klein via www.ruelala.com – Early 2011 I think????

Sweater:  New York and Company (I think, it’s really old) – 2010 I think?

Belt:  Came with a dress or a shirt or something????

Shoes:  Target – These are the new ones I just got and I love the splash of color in the otherwise neutral outfit!

Jewelry:  Avon, Tiffany’s

Tuesday:

IMG_1360

Pants:  Target – August 2012

Blouse: Ann Taylor – 2011

Belt: Same as above, not really sure

Shoes: Coach Factory On-line – Summer 2012

Wednesday:

IMG_1362

This is a perfect example of transitioning something from summer to Fall, do you remember when I wore this dress before?  HERE  Well, with a few changes, the dress moves perfectly into Fall.

Dress:  Loft – August 2012

Sweater:  New York and Company – 2011

Belt:  Brighton Outlet – 2010

Shoes:  Avon – 2011

Jewelry:  Loft, Brighton, Avon

Thursday:

IMG_1367

Dress:  Sams – September 2012

Leggings:  ???? I have no idea, they are super old though

Shoes:  Chinese Laundry via online Zullily.com

Jewelry:  Brighton, Tiffany’s, Avon

Friday:

'IMG_1368

Pants:  Target – August 2012

Sweater:  Loft – August 2012

Shirt:  Kohls – very old, probably 2008 maybe????

Shoes:  Local Boutique – very old and they are actually retired now.  I actually didn’t even make it out of the house with them on.  They are just too big and they were coming off my feet and I decided not to mess with them.  Although I love them because they match this shirt so perfectly, I’m tired of fighting with them whenever I wear them.  Out they are going.  Sniff Sniff Sniff

So, I’m thinking Tuesday was my favorite this week?  Do you have a fave?

It’s Miracle Jeans Day at work!  It is the one time of year I can wear jeans to work.  Of course I have to pay $5.00 to do it but it’s a worthy cause and I get to jazz out some jeans so it’s definitely a win-win!

WWW #35

So, last week had Labor Day which means a short week for me.  Have you noticed though that when you have Monday off, your Tuesday is even a bigger drag than your Monday would have been?  Oh well, at least it was still just a 4 day work week.  Let’s get started with the outfits from last week.

Some Fall Must-Haves

I thought I would share with you some of my recent Fall Must-Have purchases.  Although the temps this past week have been anything but fall-like, I still am in the spirit and the mood for some fall wardrobe choices.  I think a few key pieces will just totally transform your wardrobe and give you that much needed inspiration to throw some new outfits together to get through the new season.  So, here are some things I’ve bought that you will be seeing soon in my WWW posts.

First off:

ankle_pant

A really nicely tailored pair of ankle pants.  These are from Target and they run $24.99.  They have tons of colors.  I got some in this tobacco color, black, and a really pretty wine color.  It’s weird though, the black ones are a little longer than the other 2.  Oh well, they are super cute and super flirty with high heels!

Second:

boots

Some cowgirl boots!  I mean who doesn’t love them some cowboy boots?  Well, actually who doesn’t love them some cowboy period?  I got these at DSW and they were only $59.95.  They are SUPER comfortable and I’m pretty sure I can wear them all day and into the night without hurting my feet.  I had to order mine online because my DSW had exactly 2 pairs in the store, a 6 and a 10.  Um, does everyone in my town wear a 7?  I’ve about decided I must be a super popular size in everything.  On the pants above, I wanted to get those ankle pants in every color but they only had my size in the 3 that I got.  They have this beautiful purple pair that I really wanted but none in my size.  And I was at that Target last week and they didn’t have these pants at all, so within 1 week they got them and then sold out of my size in almost all of the colors!  As it was, I got the last pair of the 3 I did get in my size.  Sorry all you slightly plump girls out there, you are outta luck if you want them now!

Third:

jacket

A jean jacket!  I’ve been wanting one of these for awhile.  I keep seeing such cute outfits with the maxi dress or even regular dresses and skirts paired with a jean jacket.  I found mine at Old Navy for $29.95.  LOVE IT!  I liked it so much actually that I bought both of my daughters one too.  Yeah, we’ve all wanted one so I decided to share the love once I found this beauty for a really decent price.  They run a little small I think.  I had to get an XL and I usually wear a large at Old Navy.  Just sayin’.

Fourth:

shoes

Some bright colored pumps.  I’ve been wanting some of these for awhile too.  Sometimes I wear all brown, gray, or black and I want to jazz up the outfit a little.  I think a cool shoe in a different bright color would be just the ticket!  I got these at Target.  They are the berry color and they are $29.95.  They have a couple of other colors as well, but these were the brightest so I chose these.  I can’t wait to wear them with an all black outfit to give it a pop of color.

So, those are my fall purchases thus far.  Stay tuned to see how I integrate them into the wardrobe I already have.  What are your fall must-haves?
